SafetyMode Creator Brief
The brief for creators: how it works, what every video must include, and the style and hook menus to choose from.
What we want: a short, real-feeling vertical video (9:16, 20–45 seconds) that makes a parent stop and think "I need to know more about this." OtherPhone should be the evidence in your family's story, not the whole story. Most people watch on mute, so your first visual and on-screen caption have to work without sound.
Who this is for: parent creators who are happy to feature their child on camera.
How it works
Step 1: Pick a style, pick a hook, and pitch your opening
Send us:
- Style (from the Style menu)
- Hook type (from the Hook menu)
- First visual: what we see in the first 2 seconds
- First on-screen text: what we read over that shot
- First scripted line: what we hear first
Any style can be paired with any hook.
Step 2: Approval, then record and edit
We'll approve your hook or send minor tweaks within [X] working days. Once approved, begin production.
Step 3: First draft
Send it over, we'll reply with one round of notes, and you make minor amends.
Step 4: Post and send deliverables
Post in your agreed week, then send us:
- A collab post with @the.otherphone, with subtitles or closed captions for watching on mute.
- Your acceptance of our whitelisting request (Partnership Ad access).
- A final clean MP4 with sound and no captions, sent as a download.
Every video must include
- A hook in the first 2–3 seconds. No intro.
- Your child on screen, using or reacting to OtherPhone.
- The proof point: [the one thing parents should remember], shown on screen.
- At least 3 features that matter to you, shown on screen and explained in your own words.
- A hands-on shot of the phone and a face-on-camera moment from you.
- A call to action in the last 3 seconds: say it in your own words, and show "Find out more at SafetyMode.com" as on-screen text.
- Your own words. Our example lines are inspiration, not a script.
The style is what the video is. Pick one, then pair it with a hook from the Hook menu.
| Style | What it is |
|---|---|
| A. Demo walkthrough | Show the phone and go through each feature on screen. |
| B. Talking head | You speak to camera about the problem and what helped. |
| C. Comparison story (research rabbit hole) | You looked at every kids' phone out there. Don't name other brands; say "every other kids' phone" and explain why OtherPhone was the only one that covered every risk for children. |
| D. Child interview | A short, relaxed chat with your child about getting OtherPhone as their first phone: how it feels, what they're looking forward to, and what they'll use it for. |
| E. Handover and unboxing | Film the moment you hand over the phone and your child unboxes it. Then interview them: explain why you chose this phone and what it will let them do, and ask what they think. |
| F. Your own idea | Pitch it to us. |
Please email us your chosen:
- Hook type (what gets your audience interested)
- First visual (what we see)
- First on-screen text (what we read)
- First scripted line (what we hear)
The hook is how the first 3 seconds open. Pick one, then pair it with a style from the Style menu. The lines, text and visuals below are examples: use your own words.
| Hook type | First scripted line (example) | On-screen text | On-screen visual |
|---|---|---|---|
| Problem-first | "She's asked for a smartphone every day for a month" | "Kids and smartphones are impossible" | Happy little girl unboxing |
| Confession | "I need to tell you about something that's genuinely helped me" | "This is GAMECHANGING" | Talking head, direct to camera |
| Urgent topic over a happy image | "Last time I posted about smartphones, people were furious" | "Why smartphones get parents RAGING" | Happy little girl |
| Mid-sentence | "...and parental controls don't stop what's on the screen" | "Parental controls aren't enough" | You, already mid-conversation, talking to camera |
| Opinion-led: your parenting view, then OtherPhone as proof. Keep it about your own choice. | "My 10-year-old doesn't need an iPhone. Here's what she has instead" | "She doesn't need an iPhone" | The OtherPhone box sliding into shot |
| "I spent hours Googling" | "I spent 3 hours researching kids' phones last night" | "3 hours of research. 1 answer." | Laptop or phone screen full of open tabs |
| Life-moment trigger | "She starts secondary in September" | "Secondary school starts in September" | Your child with their school bag and uniform |
| Credibility opener | "As a teacher and mum of two…" | "Teacher and mum of two" | You, direct to camera, in your own setting |
| Parent-to-parent tip | "A friend told me about this, so now I'm telling you" | "A friend told me. Now I'm telling you" | You holding the phone up to camera |
| Occasion: birthday present | "The birthday present I'm not worried about" | "The birthday present I'm not worried about" | A wrapped present |
| Your own idea |
Example pairing: Handover and unboxing + opinion-led hook. First visual: the OtherPhone box sliding into shot. On-screen text: "She doesn't need an iPhone". First scripted line: "My 10-year-old doesn't need an iPhone. Here's what she's getting instead."
